We are moving to Wordpress
The russellhoban.org website is moving to Wordpress after many years on Drupal.
Drupal 7 has been a brilliant platform and we'll be sad to leave it, but unfortunately it is reaching end of life in January 2025 and will no longer be supported from that point on.
The existing site content including news, links and features about all things Russell Hoban will be included in the new site, which is due to launch in November/December 2024.
Unfortunately however, the SA4QE reports - which celebrate Russell Hoban's birthday in the form of his favourite quotations - as posted to this site cannot be migrated over to the new platform, as the transfer process was just too complicated. A sample of Hoban quotations will appear on the new site, but not the actual reports, photos etc.
If you're among the Hoban fans who have posted your SA4QE reports to this site in the past, before they disappear into the ether you can save these for your own reference as HTML pages onto your computer. On a Windows PC in the Chrome browser you can do this as follows (details may vary slightly for other operating systems and browsers):
- find your report/s in the SA4QE section or search the site for your name
- right click anywhere on the web page (except on a link)
- click "save as"
- a dialogue box opens letting you choose where you want to save your page on your computer. "Save as type" should be "Web page, complete"
- click "save"
- your SA4QE report web page will be saved on your computer in the format of a single HTML file and a folder containing the images and other files that preserve the page. If you don't wish to keep all of those files, you can safely delete them all except for the images and the "css" file, though don't delete the folder itself.
- when you click on the HTML file on your computer, the saved copy of your original page will open in your web browser.
As an alternative to all of the above, you could also print your page or use "print to PDF" to save it as a PDF file, though these options won't retain all the page colours.
The current site will show here until late November/early December 2024. After that date the new Wordpress site will show and the current site will be archived temporarily.
Registered site users will be contacted to let them know when the site has moved over to Wordpress, as the current logins will no longer work.
Thank you to everyone for contributing SA4QE reports over the years.
