The Slickman A4 Quotation Event celebrates 10 years of Russell Hoban quotations

The fan activity SA4QE (Slickman A4 Quotation Event) celebrates its tenth birthday today, as Russell Hoban readers share their favourite extracts from his books on what would have been his 87th birthday.

This year's celebration kicks off with an exclusive new animation by Olaf Schneider to accompany an exclusive recording of Russell Hoban reciting his poem Rivers in your Mind from The Last of the Wallendas.

Also revealed are the results of the recent reader survey undertaken by SA4QE, including data on the most popular Hoban novels and children's books.

"We can't quite believe it's been a decade since our friend from Chicago, Diana Slickman, came up with this wonderful idea," writes the SA4QE webmaster, who goes by the name Gombert Yawncher in homage to a character from The Medusa Frequency.

Russell Hoban was born on 4 February 1925 and each 4th February fans are invited to write favourite quotes from his work on pieces of paper and leave them in public places. Since its inception in 2002, SA4QE has grown every year, with over 350 quotes distributed by nearly 100 recorded participants all over the world, and these days on social networking sites too.
